Collaborating with a  team of 18, we embarked on a ideation process. Our collective creativity culminated in the creation of an attachment, empowering mechanical wheelchair users to effortlessly ascend curbs.


Final Presentation

I led the ground interaction portion of the project:

  • Material Selection: Utilizing sheet metal, we crafted waterjet mounts specifically for the anti-tipping wheels. This ensures not only durability but also optimal performance.

  • Advanced Prototyping: The piece that maintains consistent ground contact was 3D printed. Its unique curved design guarantees contact, adapting to various angles.

  • Final Touch: After testing of numerous materials for optimal ground contact, we found our winner – a robust, sandpaper-like texture that provides traction and durability.
